Our bridge club and the New Zealand bridge world lost a legend on Sunday 5th March with the death of Alan Turner. He was a member of the Tauranga Bridge Club for a little over fifty years and a huge contributor for much of that time. He was Club Captain, President, Teacher, Finesse Editor, Director, Scorer and Convenor and much more. He played bridge for New Zealand and was the non-playing captain for many successful international teams. In 2018 he was awarded the QSM for services to Bridge.
There will be a celebration of Alan’s life on Wednesday, 15th March, at 1:00pm at the bridge club. On behalf of Alan’s life partner, Judy McLeod, I am writing to invite you to this special occasion. It will be a memorable time with a focus on sharing memories of Alan – family, work and, of course, his bridge life. After the formal proceedings – which should take no more than an hour - you are very welcome to stay for refreshments, drinks and reminiscing (accompanied by some of Alan’s favourite music).
May he Rest in Peace.
